A beautiful and distinctive Rococo-style armchair dating from approximately 1850, acquired at auction.

The chair is crafted from solid oak and finished using a traditional, highly skilled and labour-intensive technique: the wooden frame was first prepared with a layer of gesso and then gilded with genuine gold leaf. During the restoration, particular care was taken to preserve as much of the original gilding and the beautiful patina developed over the chair’s long history as possible.

The chair has been fully and professionally restored, while preserving its original character, elegant carved details and decorative rose motifs. The wide, softly upholstered seat makes it not only a striking statement piece but also a comfortable and functional chair.

The upholstery has been completely renewed using a high-quality linen and viscose blend fabric by Lauritzon. Its fresh green tone and sophisticated pattern create a beautiful contrast with the aged gold and original patina.
